The problem
Valuation models can become difficult to follow when assumptions, formulas, and results are spread across a large spreadsheet. Valuation Lab keeps the calculation and its intermediate steps in one guided workspace.
How it works
Valuation Lab is a personal educational project for exploring company valuation. You enter the operating figures and assumptions, choose a method, and the app shows how they lead to enterprise value, equity value, and, when the required conditions are met, value per share.
It supports two approaches:
- Discounted cash flow: Forecast unlevered free cash flow, discount it to the present, and add a terminal value based on perpetual growth or an exit multiple.
- Market multiples: Apply an EBITDA, EBIT, or revenue multiple that you provide, or calculate the multiple implied by a target enterprise value.
The app does not fetch market data, choose comparable companies, recommend a discount rate or multiple, or decide whether your assumptions are reasonable.
Building a DCF
If you already have a free-cash-flow forecast, you can enter it directly. Other modes start from EBITDA or from revenue and operating costs. The advanced mode includes depreciation and amortisation, tax, capital expenditure, and changes in working capital.
The discount rate is yours to enter, and an optional helper beside it will work one out from components: a cost of equity from either a build-up or CAPM, blended with after-tax debt into a WACC if the company carries any. It calculates from the figures you supply and does not suggest what they should be. Only the rate you apply is saved.
As you edit the forecast, the app updates the annual free cash flow, implied revenue growth, and calculated value. A 3 by 3 sensitivity table then shows how the result changes when the discount rate and terminal assumption move around your base case.
Enterprise value passes through an equity bridge that adds cash and subtracts debt. The app calculates value per share only when equity value is positive and a fully diluted share count above zero has been entered.
Saving and comparing work
Each company can be kept as a separate case. You can save valuation runs, compare selected results, and return to draft inputs stored in the same browser profile.
Browser storage is not a backup. Clearing the site’s data removes locally saved work, and ByMans.me cannot recover it. A project can also be exported as a JSON file and imported later.
Exporting results
The app can create a PDF report containing the assumptions, forecast cash flows, and equity bridge. It can also produce a text summary for copying or saving.
Where it runs
Valuation Lab runs in a desktop or tablet browser. There is no account or installation. It is online-only and does not run from a saved copy of the page.
Educational use
The app may contain errors, and every result depends on the assumptions entered and the methodology applied. Results are illustrative figures intended to help you learn how valuation methods work. They are not certified valuations or investment advice and should not be used as the basis for real-world financial, investment, or business decisions.
Review the Methodology page inside Valuation Lab and the Privacy page before using the app.
Your data
Your valuation inputs, cases, and saved work stay in your browser. The site still makes normal hosting requests, and the app checks that it is running from its official address. These requests do not include your valuation content. See the Privacy page for details.

FAQ
Is my financial data uploaded anywhere?
Valuation inputs, cases, saved runs, drafts, imported project data, and uploaded logos remain in your browser. The app makes an empty-body check with valuation.bymans.me when it starts and periodically while it remains open. The site also uses its host to deliver page files, and Flutter may request a fallback font when needed. None of these technical requests contains your valuation content. The Privacy page explains them in more detail.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, login, or paywall.
Does it work offline?
No. Valuation Lab is online-only and does not run from a saved copy of the page. Work saved in the browser remains there between visits unless the site's browser storage is cleared.
Which valuation methods does it support?
Discounted cash flow with a perpetual-growth, exit-EBITDA, or exit-revenue terminal value, plus multiple-based calculations using EBITDA, EBIT, or revenue. Both methods use the same bridge from enterprise value to equity value.
Can I use a result for a financial or business decision?
No. Valuation Lab is a personal educational project. It may contain errors, does not verify your inputs or assumptions, and does not provide a certified valuation or investment advice. Results are illustrative and should not be used as the basis for real-world financial, investment, or business decisions.
Can I keep my work between sessions?
Yes, on the same browser profile and device. You can also export a project as JSON and import it in another browser. Local data can be lost if you clear the site's browser storage, and the app cannot recover it.
Can I export a valuation?
Yes. A valuation can be exported as a PDF report or as a text summary. Projects can also be exported as JSON for later import.
